Mallory Polivka – MA, R-DMT

Post-Master's Fellow

Mallory received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Human Services Concentration and minor in Dance from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Her passions for dance, psychology, and serving others motivated Mallory to receive a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Specialization in Dance/Movement Therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She is a Registered-Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT) and a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA). Mallory has experience working with children and adolescents of various backgrounds and abilities as well as children and families experiencing bereavement. She also has provided therapeutic services to individuals receiving hospice care and adults with range of abilities and clinical diagnoses.

Mallory believes healing happens through relationships and highly prioritizes building trust and rapport between client and therapist. She uses a compassionate, non-judgmental, strengths-based approach to create a safe, empowering environment that nurtures growth. With a holistic perspective, Mallory meets clients where they are, drawing upon person-centered, existential, and interpersonal theories to support clients along their own process toward healing. As a dance/movement therapist, she utilizes nonverbal communication as an avenue for expressing emotion and the mind-body connection to increase awareness to body sensations in relation to thoughts and feelings. In addition to dance and movement, Mallory incorporates other expressive therapies into her work, such as art, music, drama, and play.
