Amanda Mesenbrink – MS

Post-Master's Fellow

Amanda (she/her) received her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University and her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota Duluth. While getting her bachelors degree, Amanda completed research, studying the efficacy of dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) at Amberwing clinic. She has also presented research findings at the Twin Ports Undergraduate Psychology conference.

Amanda has experience in applied behavioral analysis (ABA), where she worked with children and adolescents (ages 2-18) on the autism spectrum. Amanda also has experience in partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care where she incorporated cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) interventions with both children and adults (ages 6-60) who primarily struggled with severe anxiety, depression and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

Amanda is passionate about improving the quality of life for others, specifically children and adolescents. She also creates a safe and open space where individuals can feel accepted and heard as this is crucial in order to foster growth. She strives to meet clients where they are at in their treatment journey. Amanda incorporates evidence-based interventions such as CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing and makes therapy custom to each unique individual to support their needs while working to provide a fun atmosphere to each session. She is dedicated to advocating for others and making meaningful change within clients’ lives and their families.
