Andrea Barlass – MSW, LICSW

Mental Health Professional

Andrea (she/her) received her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  Her experience ranges in the area of mental health which includes School-Based Therapy with children, Eating Disorder Residential Treatment, Adult Mental Health Partial Hospitalization, Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment, Outpatient therapy with children, adolescents, and adults, child protection, and medical/hospital social work.

Andrea  enjoys working with individuals affected by anxiety, traumatic events, chronic illness, relational issues, depression, and obsessive compulsive disorder.

Within her work with clients, Andrea uses a client-centered approach that places importance on the therapeutic relationship, recognizing that each client is unique and mental health care is not one size fits all. She strives to help clients feel supported by offering them a safe, non-judgmental and compassionate space to process their thoughts and emotions. During a session, Andrea uses a blend of different therapy models including narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and strengths based approaches. She is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), specialized treatments to help individuals living with post-traumatic stress disorder.
