Andrea Garcia Malledo – BA
Andrea (she/her) is a practicum student enrolled in the doctoral program for counseling psychology at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology/Anthropology from Gustavus Adolphus College.
Her experience has enabled her to work with families and children experiencing various mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, and ADHD in outpatient settings. Andrea also has experience working with adults receiving mental health services through inpatient settings due to severe and persistent mental health concerns.
As a native Spanish speaker originally from Venezuela, Andrea enjoys being able to use her native language to connect with individuals whose first language is not English or who have a multicultural background. Andrea utilizes a client-centered, strength-based approach when working with clients. She is culturally affirming and inclusive of all intersections of identity, focusing on understanding an individual’s experience and story empathetically.
