Carly Jarvinen – MA, LMFT

Clinical Supervisor

Carly (she/her) earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota and her Master’s in Counseling Psychology with Marriage and Family concentration from the University of St. Thomas.

Carly enjoys working with adolescents and adults, as well as couples and families. Carly enjoys working with clients coming to therapy for the first time, those who struggle with identity and sense of self, individuals and families through pregnancy or infertility, postpartum concerns, grief and loss, and family systems or individuals struggling to create healthy boundaries and relationships.

In her work with clients, Carly utilizes a psychodynamic approach with techniques adapted from acceptance and commitment therapy, emotionally focused therapy, trauma informed interventions, and attachment theory. She utilizes humor to build connections and create a comfortable environment for her clients. She does not see clients as “broken” or “a problem” but rather their minds and bodies reacting to systemic stressors. She works to help clients find their inner strength and worth, and breakdown negative unhelpful narratives.
