Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Daniel is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and earned his Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mercy College of Health Sciences in Iowa. He is also an alum of Iowa State University. His passion for mental health is evident throughout his diverse background and experiences working in a variety of mental health care settings.
Daniel has experience working with populations with intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, severe and persistent mental illness, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and hospital-based acute inpatient care. Daniel also has an interest in working with foster care and adoption, adverse childhood experiences, personality disorders, management of chronic conditions, and forensics psychiatry. Daniels’ treatment approach includes the use of medications as a tool that can be used to help complement other treatments. His provisions of care are multi-faceted in that he draws from evidence-based approaches, his background, and by utilizing a collaborative and integrated care team approach.
Daniel believes that everyone is doing the best they can in any given moment based on their unique circumstances. He champions the celebration of life’s little victories and aims to meet the patients wherever they are in their efforts towards holistic wellness. He emphasizes the value of diversity, acceptance, and inclusion, with a lifelong aim to continuously refine his own level of cultural competency to best meet the needs of his patients. His view that mental wellness is foundational to holistic wellness drives his passion for helping patients create both the professional and community networks they need to live at their fullest potential.
