Dr. Amelia Sorensen – PsyD, LP
Staff Psychologist
Dr. Sorensen (she/her) graduated from St. Olaf College before pursuing her Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University in San Francisco, California. She graduated with an emphasis in Child and Family Therapy and has worked with children and adolescents of various backgrounds across medical, forensic, and residential settings. She has provided psychosocial support for parents residing at the Stanford Ronald McDonald House while their child received medical treatment for critical illness at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and has provided psychological assessment services for youth ages 6-17 in rural primary care clinic settings. Additionally, she has training in forensic neuropsychological assessment, including Competency to Stand Trial evaluations and psychosexual evaluations. Dr. Sorensen is passionate about providing culturally sensitive psychological assessment for children and adolescents who may be experiencing attentional and behavioral challenges as well as mood concerns. As part of her evaluations, she values working with the whole family unit and other important figures in the patient’s life to identify appropriate supports and resources, gain a deeper understanding of themselves, and learn to maximize their unique strengths as they grow.
