Dr. Amy Carrison – PsyD, LP, LADC
Dr. Amy Carrison is a licensed psychologist and licensed drug and alcohol counselor and has worked in many settings including inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, outpatient substance abuse programs and halfway house settings for adolescents and adults. She has also worked in outpatient mental health settings with children, adolescents, and adults. In addition to substance abuse, she has experience in psychological testing.
Dr. Carrison earned her MA in Counseling and Psychological services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. She also earned her Doctoral Degree from Saint Mary’s University in Counseling Psychology, outpatient medical clinics, mental health clinics, and schools. Dr. Carrison sees a variety of age groups including children (age 5+), adolescents, and adults and enjoys helping clients learn new skills that can them achieve the goals they set for themselves. She also loves helping skills that can help them apply skills learned in therapy into their daily life.
Dr. Carrison uses a solution focused, client centered approach that is Cognitive Behavioral based but can use other approaches the client may need. Dr. Carrison’s primary goal in therapy is to help clients enhance and develop skills that can be used in daily life settings.
Dr. Carrison has experience treating substance abuse concerns in adolescents and adults, grief/loss, executive functioning challenges in children, adolescents, and adults, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, and adjustment concerns.
