Halaina Christensen – MSW, LICSW
Mental Health Professional
Halaina Christensen is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who has been practicing in the mental health field for 9 years and a licensed social worker for 4 years. Halaina is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas and College of St. Catherine with a Master of Social Work degree.
In her practice, Halaina brings with her the belief that developing a safe and trusting relationship is the foundation of successful psychotherapy. Halaina believes in taking a holistic approach to working with her clients in the therapy room. Halaina practices from a strengths based framework and believes that one cannot be treated in isolation, but rather within the family and environmental systems they engage with every day. Halaina strives to begin work with her clients meeting them exactly where they are at, and providing an empathic, and non-judgmental space for people to process through their experiences.
Halaina has experience in working with children, adolescents, and adults in varying community settings. She has a special interest and extensive training in working with mother’s who are experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. While pulling from multiple theoretical frameworks depending on the individual person, she primarily incorporates tools from psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, CBT, and DBT. Halaina offers a safe, empathic, and non-judgmental space for people to process through the experiences that are bringing them to seek support.
