Mary-Rose Granlund – MSW, LICSW
Day Treatment Program Manager
Mary-Rose started her career in mental health since high school. Throughout the way she’s learned that the most powerful thing you can do is to listen. Because being a parent in today’s society can be really difficult, Mary-Rose loves being able to help families explore their challenges to better understand what’s happening in order to find the joy in parenting.
According to Mary-Rose, children’s emotions are often left out of consideration because adults need to get things done; therefore, helping caregivers conceptualize and better understand the children in their lives helps everyone do better.
Mary-Rose holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Law, Criminology, and Deviance from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. In addition, she received her Master of Social Work from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
She has experience treating early childhood trauma, anxiety, attachment, parenting challenges, and behavioral concerns. Mary-Rose specializes in Early Childhood Day Treatment; early childhood & parenting; child care and school collaborations. She also has experience working with immigrant & refugee families and was asked to travel to Amman, Jordan in 2019 to train therapists to support Syrian refugees.
Mary-Rose has a holistic, family-centered approach when working with a child’s challenging behaviors and understands that behavior is the language of children, so she helps children and their caregivers explore the causes while providing support & solutions that help relieve the stress for everyone.
Her approach to therapy is client-first that emphasizes the importance of relationships. She has extensive training in the Developmental Repair model and also uses Play Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral-Therapy, and Attachment Therapy. Her goal is to find ways to help families connect and understand each other better through a fun and healthy environment.
