Michael Hastings – MA

Michael is a Post Masters Fellow Clinical Trainee at Lorenz Clinic. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychological Science and Philosophy from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. For his graduate studies, he obtained his master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas Graduate School of Professional Psychology in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a therapist, he has worked with individuals from early adolescence through older and later-life populations in an outpatient setting. He provided therapy services to individuals, couples, and families. Michael takes a special interest in collaborating with clients to treat depression, grief, anxiety, couples issues, trauma-related symptoms, OCD, PTSD, emotional dysregulation, identity issues, and self-esteem issues. Therapeutic services offered by Michael consist of an existential-humanistic approach that acknowledges and understands the human condition. His approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and theory that recognizes that symptoms are often a reaction to circumstances which need not be pathologized. In pursuit of healing and growth, Michael offers a warm, personal, non-judgmental space, with an emphasis placed on the quality of the therapeutic relationship, to facilitate healing, growth, self-exploration, and the empowerment of the individual to create a meaningful life worth living.
