Nick Hervatin – BA
Practicum Student
Nick (he/him) earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and is currently completing his Master’s in Counseling Psychology at the University of St. Thomas.
Nick enjoys working with clients across the lifespan to create a welcoming, collaborative, and affirming space where they can work to better understand themselves, navigate life’s challenges, and move toward meaningful change.
Nick enjoys working with individuals experiencing obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and life transitions. He also enjoys supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community and strives to provide care that is affirming of each client’s identity, values, and lived experiences.
Nick takes a person-centered and culturally-responsive approach to therapy, tailoring treatment to each client’s goals and strengths. His work integrates techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Exposure and Response Prevention when appropriate. He emphasizes collaboration throughout the therapeutic process, helping clients develop practical skills while also exploring the thoughts, emotions, and experiences that shape their lives.
Nick values authenticity, curiosity, and humor as tools for building a strong therapeutic relationship. He approaches clients with compassion and respect, recognizing that they are doing their best while facing difficult circumstances. Together, he helps clients identify unhelpful patterns, build on their existing strengths, cultivate self-compassion, and create lasting change that aligns with what matters most to them.
