Terra Hawkes-Malone – BS
Practicum Student
Terra Hawkes-Malone is a clinical trainee pursuing her masters degree in counseling psychology at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Before entering the counseling profession, she studied cultural geography, an experience that continues to shape the way she understands the interconnectedness of people, culture, identity, and the environments in which they live. Her perspective has also been shaped by decades of lived experience, including raising neurodiverse children, navigating life-stage transitions, and living in diverse communities across North America.
Terra works with children, adolescents, and adults and welcomes clients of all genders and identities. She has particular interest in supporting neurodivergent clients, parents, LGBTQIA+ individuals, people navigating life-stage transitions, religious and spiritual change, and individuals or families adapting to the unique challenges of life-threatening food allergies.
Her approach is person-centered and informed by Gestalt principles of awareness and wholeness, while drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients build practical skills and move toward lives that reflect what matters most to them. Her work with clients honors the whole person, including their cultural, spiritual, and personal beliefs. Terra strives to create a space where people can feel at ease bringing their whole selves into the room, and helps clients notice the stories, patterns, and moments of insight that make sense of their challenges, and bring about new possibilities and strengths.
