Lorenz Clinic is looking for a Mental Health Practitioner II position to provide in-home services.  The position is full-time and will have a home base at either our Rosemount, Minnesota or our Chaska, Minnesota, location.  This role is is designed for mental health practitioners who are qualified as clinical trainees to provide Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports (CTSS) services, and it is part of Lorenz Clinic’s formal training program.  

Lorenz Clinic is known for its distinctive approach to child and family psychology that integrates developmental, systemic, experiential, and trauma-informed models. The clinic realizes the distinctive role relationally-focused child and family providers have within the mental health profession. With four locations located on the outer edge of the metro area, the clinic works to expand access to mental healthcare services for all in need. 

Job duties include:

  • Provide clinical services including conducting diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, psychotherapy, day treatment, and discharge planning for early childhood, child, adolescent, and early adult clients
  • Carry and maintain a psychotherapy caseload as defined by clinic, in-home or center-based as needed
  • Provide Crisis assistance as needed
  • Attend and participate in individual and/or group supervision, case consultation, Grand Rounds, business meetings, and other meetings as required by the Clinic
  • Comply with clinical documentation standards and deadlines as outlined by the Clinic
  • Utilize the Clinic’s electronic health record to maintain the clinical chart
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times
  • Strictly comply with licensing board rules and APA and AAMFT Codes of Ethics
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions with staff, patients, and business associates of the Clinic
  • Bill appropriate procedural codes accurately and timely
  • Keep abreast of billing issues and discuss with patients when necessary
  • Assist in intermittent peer-reviews of patient files
  • Adhere to additional directives by applicable direct clinical and administrative supervisors
  • Other duties as assigned

 Qualifications

  • A master’s or doctoral degree in psychology, clinical counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work, or similar field from a regionally-accredited academic program.
  • Must comply with requirements for licensure or board certification as a mental health professional including supervised practice in the delivery of mental health services for the treatment of mental illness, or
  • Be a student in a bona fide field placement or internship under a program leading to completion of the requirements for licensure as a mental health professional

  • Ability to manage and navigate communications through email, voice mail, in-person, or through the mail in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ability and willingness to provide services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, or families as assigned
  • Ability to respect diversity and integrate issues of culture into case conceptualizations
  • Ability to engage with patients who may be ambivalent about treatment
  • Ability to adapt interventions to patients’ strengths, skills, and developmental levels
  • Commitment to empowering patients to solve their own problems when necessary
  • Ability to intervene decisively to protect patient safety
  • Ability to comply with clinic documentation standards and best professional practices
  • Ability to maintain and carry a full caseload as defined by the Clinic
  • Has working knowledge of child protection reporting requirements
  • Demonstrates perfect interpersonal boundaries with patients and other clinic staff

 Other Requirements

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Reliable transportation to get to work and in-home appointments
  • Ability to use a computer for long periods of time
  • Ability to be reliable, punctual, and dependable
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Eligible to participate in government programs (is not excluded by the OEG or state)
  • Preference will be given to bilingual candidates
