Sarah Leahy – BA

Practicum Student

Sarah Leahy is a master’s student at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in the counselor education program with an emphasis on clinical mental health counseling. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and minors in Spanish and Neuroscience.

As a clinician, Sarah’s theoretical orientation mainly stems from cognitive behavioral and person-centered approaches. She utilizes a non-directive counseling style in order to create a space in which the client is the main focus of the session, while also paying close attention to how maladaptive thoughts may be influencing their behaviors.

Past experiences for Sarah include both clinical mental health and career counseling settings. These past opportunities have enabled Sarah to work with varying ailments, including clients experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and substance abuse, as well as clients who are struggling with career challenges.
